ADA, Okla. – Local students have a unique opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge about the world of robotics by joining the First Tech Challenge.

During upcoming sessions of FTC hosted by the Chickasaw Nation STM Academy, students will work together developing projects using 3D printing/modeling as well as other science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) related skills.

Student projects will also involve designing, building, programming, marketing, graphic design, photography and more.

All learning is hands-on and student-based, officials said.

No prior STEM knowledge or experience is required.

First Tech Challenge learning opportunities are scheduled Mondays and Thursdays from 1-5 p.m. beginning June 1 in the STM Academy’s facility at 301 Seabrook Road in Ada.

A summer session also is planned and will begin Aug. 3.

To participate, students must be entering grades 9-12, have Chickasaw heritage or be children of Chickasaw Nation employees.
